Tour description

Dresden is one of Europe's great phoenix cities: a baroque jewel almost erased in 1945 and painstakingly rebuilt stone by stone into the 'Florence of the Elbe' once more. On this walking tour a local guide tells the moving story of the city's golden age under the Saxon kings, its wartime destruction and its extraordinary resurrection.

You will stand before the reconstructed Frauenkirche, admire the sumptuous Zwinger palace and the tiled Procession of Princes, and stroll the riverside terrace once called 'the balcony of Europe'. Elegant, poignant and beautifully restored, Dresden is a city that rewards those who take the time to understand it.
Meeting point:

Neumarkt, in front of the Frauenkirche, Dresden
