Tour description
Jaisalmer rises from the Thar Desert like a golden mirage, a sandstone city crowned by one of the world's few living forts, still inhabited after 850 years. Once a great Silk Road trading post, it is famous for its intricately carved merchant havelis. On this walking tour a local guide reveals its magic.
You will climb into the living fort, wander lanes of golden sandstone, and admire the ornately carved havelis of the old merchants. Along the way you will hear about the desert caravans, the Rajput warriors and daily life within the walls. Golden and magical, Jaisalmer is a wonderful city to explore on foot.
