Tour description
Malacca was once the greatest trading port in Southeast Asia, a meeting point of Malay, Chinese, Indian, Portuguese, Dutch and British worlds whose legacy fills its UNESCO-listed old town. On this walking tour a local guide leads you through a city where cultures have mingled for six centuries.
You will stand in the famous red Dutch Square, wander the antique shops and temples of Jonker Street, and hear about the sultans, spice traders and colonial powers who fought over this strategic port. Along the way you will discover the unique Peranakan culture born from centuries of mixing. Colourful and historic, Malacca is a wonderful city to explore on foot.
