On this walking tour a local guide helps you see past the clichés to the real, vibrant Marseille.\n\nYou will start at the legendary Old Port where fishermen still sell their catch, climb into the colourful artist quarter of Le Panier, and hear the stories of Greeks, Romans, immigrants and rebels who shaped the city. Stop 1 – Vieux-Port: We meet at the historic harbour, the birthplace and beating heart of Marseille.\nStop 2 – The fish market & Ombrière: The daily catch beneath Norman Foster's mirrored canopy.\nStop 3 – Le Panier: The oldest quarter, a colourful maze of stairways and street art.\nStop 4 – La Vieille Charité: A beautiful baroque almshouse hidden in the old town.\nStop 5 – Marseille Cathedral & the docks: The striped cathedral between the old and new ports.\nStop 6 – Hôtel de Ville & the quays: The elegant town hall on the harbourfront.\nStop 7 – Notre-Dame de la Garde viewpoint: We finish with the story of the hilltop basilica that guards the city.
