Tour description

Ninh Binh is one of northern Vietnam's most spectacular regions, a dreamlike landscape of towering limestone karsts, winding rivers and emerald rice paddies that has earned it the nickname 'Ha Long Bay on land'. It was also the site of Vietnam's ancient capital a thousand years ago. On this walking tour a local guide brings together its history and scenery.

You will explore the temples of the old capital of Hoa Lu, learn about the dynasties that ruled from here, and take in views over the karst-studded countryside. Along the way you will hear about rural life among the rice fields and rivers. Majestic and historic, Ninh Binh is a wonderful area to explore on foot.
