Tour description

Salvador was the first capital of Brazil and remains the beating heart of Afro-Brazilian culture, a city of colourful colonial streets, gilded baroque churches and irresistible music and rhythm. Its UNESCO-listed Pelourinho district is one of the most vibrant historic centres in the Americas. On this walking tour a local guide reveals its beauty and its powerful history.

You will wander the pastel lanes of the Pelourinho, admire dazzling baroque churches, and hear about the African heritage, the difficult history of slavery, and the culture of capoeira, candomblé and carnival. Along the way you will feel the rhythm that pulses through the city. Colourful and soulful, Salvador is a wonderful city to explore on foot.
