Tour description
Samarkand is one of the most magical cities on earth, a fabled Silk Road crossroads whose blue-tiled domes and towering madrasas have dazzled travellers for a thousand years. Once the capital of Tamerlane's empire, it holds some of the greatest monuments of the Islamic world. On this walking tour a local guide reveals its splendour and history.
You will stand in awe before the Registan, one of the most beautiful squares in the world, wander toward the majestic Bibi-Khanym Mosque, and hear tales of conquerors, astronomers and Silk Road traders. Along the way you will discover the crafts and culture of Uzbekistan. Breathtaking and historic, Samarkand is an unforgettable city to explore on foot.
