Tour description
Battambang is Cambodia’s second-largest city, yet it still maintains a leisurely pace of life, with rows of French colonial townhouses along the Sangker River and fertile countryside known as the country’s “rice bowl.”
During the tour, you will ride the “Norry” – a bamboo train running along the railway tracks, gliding past rice fields in O Sra Lav village – a fun experience found only in Battambang. Next, visit Wat Banan, an 11th-century hilltop temple with five towers often described as a “miniature Angkor Wat.”
You will also visit local families who make traditional products: rice paper (spring roll wrappers), bamboo-tube sticky rice, dried bananas, and prahok fish paste – foods closely associated with the daily meals of the Khmer people.
At the end of the day, at the foot of Phnom Sampeau, you will witness the spectacular sight of millions of bats flying in a long stream like a black river across the sunset sky. Before that, your guide will take you to visit the memorial caves and the temple on the mountain.
