Tour description
The Cardamom Mountains in southwestern Cambodia are a vast tropical rainforest home to Asian elephants, bears, gibbons and hundreds of bird species. Chi Phat Village is a leading community-based tourism model: residents who once made their living from hunting and logging have now become guides, cooks and hosts, working together to protect the forest.
From Phnom Penh, a vehicle takes you to Andoung Tuek, then a wooden boat travels upstream along the Preaek Piphot River between lush forested banks to the village. During your 2 days in Chi Phat, you will trek to waterfalls and ancient jar burial sites (depending on the itinerary), go birdwatching early in the morning, cycle around the village and paddle along the river at sunset.
Part of the tour proceeds is contributed to the community fund and forest conservation activities. Accommodation is simple but clean, suitable for travelers seeking an authentic experience.
