Tour description
Luang Namtha is a mountainous province in northwestern Laos, home to more than 20 ethnic groups, including the Akha, Khmu, Lanten, Tai Dam, and Tai Lue. The Nam Ha National Protected Area covers more than 2,000 km² and was one of the first places in Laos to implement community-based ecotourism: tour fees are distributed among the villages to help protect the forest.
Over 3 days, you will hike approximately 5–7 hours per day along forest trails, crossing streams, upland rice fields, and bamboo forests, accompanied by a local guide knowledgeable about medicinal plants and survival skills in the forest. Spend two nights in stilt houses in Akha and Khmu villages, enjoying banana-leaf-wrapped rice, chatting around the fire, and learning about the customs of highland communities.
On the final day, return to Luang Namtha and have time to visit the night market and the golden stupa That Phum Phuk. This tour is suitable for people with good physical fitness.
