Tour description
Charoen Krung is Bangkok's oldest paved road, and the stretch around Bang Rak is where the city's Chinese, Muslim, and Portuguese communities ended up cooking right next to each other. Almost nobody runs food tours here, and that's precisely why we do.
We start before eight, when a Bib Gourmand spot tucked away in an alley off Charoen Krung is still ladling out khao kha moo—pork leg braised for hours with five-spice and soy sauce until fall-apart tender, served over rice with pickled mustard greens and boiled eggs. Just minutes away, a roast duck shop operating since 1909 hangs glistening birds in the window. Your guide will navigate you between these stops through a neighborhood of vintage shophouses, a Muslim enclave, and one of Thailand's oldest Catholic churches.
Then we board a public ferry across the Chao Phraya River. Ten minutes on the water past temples and working barges, and you land on the Thonburi side at Wang Lang—a bustling market alley next to Siriraj Hospital that feeds tens of thousands of people a day and hits peak energy between eight and nine in the morning. Here, the food is cheaper, faster, and skewing more Southern Thai: curry-over-rice chosen from twenty platters, mango with sticky rice, desserts baked in banana leaves, and iced Thai milk tea poured over crushed ice.
Your guide explains the river's role in Bangkok's food culture, how the ferry system costs and works so you can use it on your own, and which Thonburi markets are worth coming back to.
Small group, capped at 10 guests. Includes one cross-river public ferry ride.

Cancellation policy
Free cancellation up to 24 hours before the tour start time for a full refund. Cancellations within 24 hours are non-refundable. If river ferries are suspended due to weather or water levels, we run an all-Charoen Krung version of the route and refund the difference. Otherwise, the tour operates rain or shine.
Other notes
Departures Monday through Saturday at 07:30. We do not operate on Sundays, when the pork leg stall at stop 1 is closed.
The early start matters for two reasons: stop 1 sells out mid-morning, and Wang Lang is at its best between 08:00 and 09:00 before thinning out toward midday.
The ferry is an open-sided public commuter boat with unreserved seating. Boarding is straightforward but involves a small step-up and no ramp, so please let us know in advance if anyone in your group has mobility restrictions; we can substitute a bridge and taxi at no extra charge.
Dietary restrictions: please notify us at least 48 hours in advance. The first two stops are pork and duck; we can substitute with Thai-Muslim halal dishes on Charoen Krung, which is a genuine strength of the area, and the Wang Lang portion adapts easily for vegetarians.
Bangkok street-vending regulations continue to tighten and stalls can relocate on short notice. We re-confirm every stop the week of your tour.
