Tour description
Bolaven coffee is a source of pride for Laos, grown in red basalt soil at elevations of over 1,000 meters around the town of Paksong. Many families and small cooperatives are shifting to high-quality, clean, and sustainable coffee production.
This 2-day tour takes you to a family-run coffee plantation. You will walk among Arabica and Robusta gardens beneath shade trees, learn how the coffee plants are cared for and harvested (during the November–February harvest season, you will pick ripe coffee cherries), then observe the wet-processing, natural-processing, drying, and hulling stages. In the evening, you will roast a batch of coffee yourself in a pan and learn several brewing methods.
On the second day, you will visit Paksong Market, admire the twin Tad Fane Waterfall, and swim at Tad Yuang Waterfall before returning to Pakse – taking home a package of coffee roasted by your own hands.

Currency: the Kip (LAK) is the official currency; many places accept USD and Thai Baht, but you should exchange some money into Kip for spending at markets, small shops, and in rural areas.
The tour is normally led by an English-speaking local guide; guides speaking Vietnamese, French, Chinese, Thai, and other languages can be requested (please advise us when booking, subject to guide availability).
The price applies per guest and is based on a private tour for groups of 2 or more guests. Larger groups receive better rates; please contact us.
