Detailed itinerary
DEPARTURE FROM CAN THO – MELALEUCA FOREST – CHAU DOC (Meals at your own expense)
Morning: The vehicle and tour guide will pick you up at the meeting point to begin the journey exploring Can Tho – An Giang – Dong Thap. We will travel along National Highway 91, passing through Long Xuyen City – the hometown of Uncle Ton.
Noon: Upon arriving in Long Xuyen, the group will enjoy lunch featuring local specialties at a restaurant (at your own expense). Afterward, we will explore the beauty of Tra Su Melaleuca Forest through the following activities:
- Experience traveling by “tac rang” boat through the melaleuca forest, where the distinctive wetland ecosystem of the Mekong Delta in the past is recreated.
- Weaving through fragrant lotus ponds and stretches of deep-green duckweed, you can also enjoy a ride on a “three-leaf boat” to visit an area where egrets and herons build nests and lay eggs.
- Check in at the longest “thousand-step bamboo bridge” through the forest in the Southwestern region and the “Drum – Roof” house.
- From the observation tower, you can admire panoramic views of the immense melaleuca forest and flocks of birds and egrets flying freely across the sky.
Farewell to Tra Su. On the way to Chau Doc, visitors will admire lush green rice fields and rows of leaning coconut trees, while enjoying the sweet, refreshing taste of palm nectar, rich with the flavors of the Mekong Delta.
15:30: The group will depart for Chau Doc, beginning the sightseeing and pilgrimage tour:
- Ba Chua Xu Temple: A major pilgrimage center in the Mekong Delta, known for the Ba Chua Xu Temple of Sam Mountain Festival (the 24th day of the fourth lunar month).
- Thoai Ngoc Hau Tomb: Also known as Son Lang, it is the tomb of one of the founding meritorious officials of the Nguyen Dynasty – a general who helped expand the country’s southwestern frontier.
- Hang Pagoda – Phuoc Dien Pagoda: More than 100 years old, it is one of the four cultural and historical sites on Sam Mountain recognized and ranked by the Ministry of Culture.
Afternoon: Upon arriving in Chau Doc, the vehicle and tour guide will take you to the hotel for check-in, followed by free time to relax.

- Kien An Cung Pagoda: More than a century old, featuring architecture strongly influenced by the Fujian style of China.
- Binh Thuy Ancient House: Once owned by a wealthy man in old Sa Dec, where the group will hear the romantic love story of the owner, featured in French writer Marguerite Duras’s work The Lover (L’amant), which was later adapted into a film of the same name.
