Tour description
Savannakhet is Laos’s second-largest city, facing Mukdahan (Thailand) across the Second Lao–Thai Friendship Bridge. The city’s old quarter still preserves many French colonial villas, shophouses, and trading establishments, creating a nostalgic atmosphere rarely found elsewhere in Laos.
The tour begins with a walk around the square of St. Teresa’s Church (built in 1930) and the old streets, followed by a visit to Wat Sayaphoum on the riverbank. You will visit the Savannakhet Dinosaur Museum, which displays dinosaur fossils and footprints discovered in the province.
In the afternoon, a vehicle will take you to That Ing Hang, approximately 15 km from the city. This stupa, about 25 meters tall, is considered one of the most sacred Buddhist structures in Laos and is said to enshrine a relic of the Buddha’s backbone.
