Detailed itinerary
HO CHI MINH CITY - CON DAO - EXPLORING HISTORICAL RELICS (LUNCH / DINNER)
Morning: At Tan Son Nhat Airport, our professional staff will welcome and assist you with check-in procedures for your flight to Con Dao. Upon arrival, an enthusiastic tour guide and shuttle bus will pick you up to begin your Con Dao sightseeing tour. The itinerary will take you to explore renowned landmarks such as Co Ong village, Prince Cai Temple (Mieu Cau), and Lo Voi Cape...
Noon: You will head to the hotel for lunch, check in, and relax.
Afternoon: The group will set out to discover Con Dao:
- Con Dao Governor's Palace: Listen to an overview presentation of Con Dao past and present, and view original artifacts on display.
- Phu Hai Prison, a somber national historic relic, was built by French colonialists to detain and torture political prisoners. It is notorious for brutal forms of torture, such as the rice milling cellar, dark solitary confinement cells, and the Con Lon stone-breaking area.
- French Tiger Cages, also known as Phu Tho Camp, was the dark heart of Con Dao Prison. Hidden among a labyrinth of buildings, this fortified cage system was once used to detain and brutally torture revolutionary soldiers. Visitors will hear stories of the savage torture methods prisoners endured, offering a vivid glimpse into this "hell on earth."
- Phu Binh Camp, also known as the "American Tiger Cages," was built in 1971 as a living hell where brutal psychological torture was inflicted to break prisoners' wills. This site is also a historical witness to being the first to receive news of Saigon's liberation.
- Cow Sheds Isolation Area: Used for raising cattle during the French and American periods, and for torturing prisoners by submerging them in cow dung pits.
- Lady Phi Yen Temple: Also known as An Son Temple, dedicated to Lady Phi Yen, concubine of Lord Nguyen Anh, and one of two spiritual patronesses of the people of Con Dao.
Evening: The group will return to the hotel to rest and have dinner. You are free to take a walk along the coastal streets or enjoy a coffee at Cong Quan to soak up the fresh air of Con Dao.
23:30: The tour guide will take the group to Hang Duong Cemetery, the final resting place of tens of thousands of heroes and martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the Fatherland. Here, in a solemn atmosphere, we will offer incense in commemoration, expressing deep gratitude to the fallen heroes. In particular, we will visit the grave of Vo Thi Sau, the first female death row inmate in Con Dao and an indomitable symbol of the Vietnamese spirit.
