Tour description
Da Lat sits at 1,500 meters in the Central Highlands, built by the French as a hill station, and grows nearly all of Vietnam's temperate produce—strawberries, artichokes, avocados, coffee, flowers, and about thirty varieties of vegetables that cannot grow in the lowlands.
Mornings here are cold by Vietnamese standards, around 15 degrees Celsius, so the city eats accordingly. We start on the lower level of the market with bánh mì xíu mại: not a sandwich, but a bowl of hot broth with pork meatballs, pork skin, and scallions, served with a baguette torn into pieces and dipped into the bowl. Nowhere outside this city eats bánh mì like this, and on a cold morning it makes total sense.
Next is bánh ướt lòng gà—steamed rice sheets with shredded chicken, offal, and fresh herbs, another specialty unique to Da Lat—followed by a walk through the lower market with a guide naming the highland produce: artichokes, highland avocados, persimmons, strawberries, and the dried and candied versions of them all.
We finish with artichoke tea, a proper cup of Da Lat coffee, and a glass of kem bơ, the city's famous avocado ice cream.
Small group, maximum 10 guests.

Other notes
Daily departures at 07:30. The market's food area operates in the morning and tends to thin out by late morning.
Bring a jacket. Mornings in Da Lat are around 15°C, and most visitors arrive from coastal areas without warm clothes.
Rain: the rainy season lasts from May to October, with heavy showers in the late afternoon. Mornings are usually clear. Lam Dong suffered severe flooding in late 2025.
Addresses: Vietnam abolished the district level in July 2025, and Lam Dong Province now includes areas formerly part of Dak Nong and Binh Thuan, so "Lam Dong" no longer refers only to the highlands.
Dietary requirements: please notify us at least 48 hours in advance. Da Lat is the easiest city in Vietnam for vegetarians—it is the vegetable basket of the entire country.
The Michelin Guide Vietnam does not cover Da Lat.
Walking distance is about 1.5 km, including some stairs and slopes.
