Tour description
Da Nang is often known as a coastal city and a gateway to Hoi An and Ba Na Hills. However, the central area along the Han River preserves some of Central Vietnam’s most important historical landmarks—as well as one of the finest small-scale museums in Southeast Asia.
We begin at the Museum of Cham Sculpture, built by the French in 1915. It houses the world’s largest collection of sandstone sculptures from the ancient Hindu and Buddhist Champa Kingdom: statues of deities, dancers, mythical lions and altars from My Son, Tra Kieu and Dong Duong, arranged according to their excavation sites. Your guide will explain the origins of the Cham people and why their ancient towers still stand throughout Central Vietnam.
The group walks along Bach Dang riverside to Da Nang Museum—relocated in 2025 to the restored French-era Provincial Governor’s Office building, where the city’s history from prehistoric times to the present is presented comprehensively. After a stop at Da Nang Cathedral—the pink church built in 1923 that locals commonly call the Rooster Church after the rooster statue atop its bell tower—the tour ends at Han Market, where you will explore local specialties, dried seafood and the region’s renowned fish sauce with your guide.

Other notes
Dragon Bridge breathes fire and sprays water at 21:00 every Friday, Saturday, Sunday and on major holidays—we can advise you on the best viewing spots.
The cathedral interior is usually closed outside service hours; the group will always visit the grounds and view the exterior architecture.
The museums may close on public holidays or during special events; in that case, we will replace them with another attraction in the city.
September to December is Da Nang’s stormy rainy season; the tour takes place almost entirely indoors or in covered areas.
