Detailed itinerary
Morning: Saigon - My Tho - Ben Tre
Our vehicle and tour guide will pick you up at the meeting point to begin the 1-day Mekong Delta tour: Tien Giang - Ben Tre. The vehicle will take the group through vast green rice fields along the Saigon - Trung Luong Expressway, passing the two Vam Co rivers associated with poetry in the past (Vam Co Dong - Vam Co Tay). Together with the tour guide, visitors will learn about the history and people of the areas they pass through.
The group will stop at MeKong Rest Stop, one of the famous rest stops on the way to the Mekong Delta. Visitors will see the beauty of the Mekong Delta recreated here, relax, and take souvenir photos in the airy surroundings of the lotus lake and fish pond.
The group will continue to the center of My Tho City in Tien Giang Province to visit Vinh Trang Pagoda, a famous ancient pagoda built in 1949. The pagoda was built by District Magistrate Bui Cong Dat with the wish that the ancient temple would endure forever: "Eternal with the mountains and rivers - Everlasting with heaven and earth."
Continuing the journey, the vehicle will take visitors to the 30/04 Pier. The group will board a boat to explore the land of the four sacred islets: Long - Lan - Quy - Phung. Visitors will stop at Lan Islet (Thoi Son Islet) to enjoy honey tea, listen to traditional southern Vietnamese music, and sample seasonal fruits. Passing through familiar fruit orchards of the Mekong Delta, a trail will lead visitors to the sampan pier. Here, the group will paddle a three-leaf boat through a canal lined with cool nipa palms on both sides.
The boat will take visitors back to the larger boat to travel to Phung Islet, where they will visit a traditional coconut candy workshop and the relic site of the Coconut Monk.
"Ditch-slapping and fish-catching" program: Visitors participating in the ditch-slapping and fish-catching program will be provided with the brown clothing traditionally worn by people in the Mekong Delta. Visitors will experience catching fish by hand in a pond and enjoy grilled snakehead fish, a local specialty prepared from the fish they catch themselves (the program applies to groups of 10 or more guests).
Lunch will be served at the Phung Islet restaurant, featuring crispy fried elephant-ear fish. Rest and relax with activities at the Phung Islet tourist area, such as crocodile fishing, watching 5D movies, and water ball activities (at your own expense).
Afternoon: Ben Tre - Tien Giang - Saigon
Visitors will board the larger boat to return to the 30/04 Pier. Drift along the Tien River while viewing fish-farming rafts and Rach Mieu Bridge, a source of pride for the Vietnamese people.
Upon reaching the pier, visitors will board the vehicle and return to Ho Chi Minh City.
