- District 5 Cultural House (105 Trần Hưng Đạo – parking available).
- The gas station opposite the Mien Tay Bus Station area (parking available at Triều An Hospital).
06:00 Depart for the 1-day Western Vietnam sightseeing journey, the Đồng Tháp Tour. Traveling to Đồng Tháp via the Ho Chi Minh City–Trung Lương Expressway, you will hear commentary about destinations such as Gò Đen, Bến Lức, and Tân An, which are famous throughout the region for specialties including Gò Đen rice wine, Bến Lức pineapples, and Chợ Đào fragrant rice.
07:30 Stop for breakfast at a restaurant (Mỹ Tho-style rice noodle soup, bánh canh, noodles, and phở).
Then continue the journey to Đồng Tháp. You will pass by and admire Mỹ Thuận Bridge, the largest cable-stayed bridge in Vietnam, connecting the transport route from Ho Chi Minh City to Vĩnh Long. In addition, Mỹ Thuận Bridge is an architecturally significant structure that attracts many tourists from across the country.
09:00 The tour guide takes you to explore and admire the beauty of Tân Quy Đông Ornamental Flower Village—Sa Đéc Flower Village. The village currently has more than 400 hectares of ornamental flowers, with over 2,000 households growing and trading flowers for domestic and international markets. The village was recently announced by the Vietnam Record Organization (Vietkings) as one of the top 50 attractive destinations in Vietnam and was voted one of the 10 most favorite flower villages/gardens in Vietnam. Sa Đéc flowers are grown year-round, allowing visitors to enjoy and photograph hundreds of unusual and exotic flower species in a Southern Vietnamese rural village with a traditional history of growing ornamental flowers spanning more than 100 years.
Watch the extremely fascinating and unique Flying Snakehead Fish performance, found only in the Mekong Delta.
Lunch: Enjoy lunch at a restaurant with a menu rich in the flavors of Southern Vietnam.
Suggested menu:
- Seafood hot pot
- Clay-pot braised snakehead fish
- Stir-fried shrimp with sesbania flowers
- Savory braised pork ribs/braised chicken with ginger
- Fried eggs
- Boiled vegetables
- Steamed rice – iced tea – dessert
Afternoon:
The group continues sightseeing:
In Đồng Tháp, visit Lai Vung Pink Tangerine Garden, which local people in the Mekong Delta have long honored with the title “the kingdom of pink tangerines.” This is no exaggeration, as no other province in the Mekong Delta currently has an area of pink tangerine cultivation approaching 2,000 hectares or supplies more than 40,000 tons of fruit to the market each year for the Tet holiday season as this area does.
Next, visit Phước Kiển Pagoda, also known as Lotus Leaf Pagoda. The pagoda grounds are spacious and airy. Although its architecture is not particularly distinctive, the pagoda is home to an unusual and rare lotus species found not only in Vietnam but also in other Southeast Asian countries. The lotus pond at Phước Kiển Pagoda is square, symbolizing the earth, while the round lotus leaves symbolize the sky. The enormous lotus leaves are as large as winnowing baskets, with edges curving nearly a handspan high, creating a beautiful sight. If you do not see them with your own eyes, you may think they are plastic lotus leaves or that they are supported underneath by iron and steel.
Depart for Saigon. On the way back, stop to purchase Sa Đéc specialties such as Lai Vung fermented pork rolls, Sa Giang shrimp crackers, pink tangerines, and more.
18:00 Arrive in Saigon. The tour guide bids you farewell and looks forward to seeing you again on future journeys.
