Tour description
The Gáo Giồng Ecotourism Area is an ideal place for you to take a 2-day 1-night tour to enjoy the scenery and experience the rural life in the Mekong Delta. It is one of the few ecotourism sites that still preserve almost completely the pristine characteristic of the Southern region and is nicknamed “Mini Dong Thap Muoi”.
In the past, Gáo Giồng was a barren land, heavily polluted, with only a few animal and plant species living there. However, thanks to investment and renovation, Gáo Giồng has developed into a familiar resort destination for travelers from all over. The landscape here remains largely wild and tranquil, very suitable for visitors to immerse themselves in nature and enjoy fresh air.
Key destinations in the tour that you cannot miss:
- Kien An Cung Pagoda
- Huynh Thuy Le Ancient House
- Gáo Giồng Ecotourism Area
- Tram Chim National Park

Detailed itinerary
SAIGON - SA DEC - CAO LANH - TRAM CHIM (220km) (3 MEALS)
Morning: The bus departs from the Ho Chi Minh City Labour Culture Palace, taking visitors along the Saigon–Trung Luong Expressway to My Tho. Following National Highway 1A, visitors arrive at My Thuan Suspension Bridge.
Arriving in Sa Dec, a town in the river region. Visitors will visit Kien An Cung Ancient Pagoda of the Chinese community. Simply passing through the two green stone qilin at the entrance, visitors will sense the elegance and splendour of this place; every architectural detail demonstrates the artisans’ exquisite craftsmanship. Visitors will feel their everyday worries fade away while paying homage to Lord Guan, who, although imposing, is also very approachable and sacred.
Leaving the pagoda, visitors will visit Huynh Thuy Le Ancient House to learn about its distinctive blend of Eastern and Western architecture and hear an introduction to the immortal love story between the homeowner, Huynh Thuy Le (a Vietnamese person of Chinese origin), and Marguerite Duras (a French woman). This romantic and tearful love story was recounted by Marguerite in her novel The Lover, which has been translated into 43 languages and later adapted into the film of the same name, The Lover, which became famous worldwide.
Afternoon: The group visits Tram Chim Tam Nong National Park, located in Tam Nong District, Dong Thap Province.
The group will have the opportunity to experience the rocking sensation of travelling by motorboat gliding across the water through rice seedling fields, melaleuca forests and lotus fields. Visitors can immerse themselves in the wild natural surroundings and freely admire Tram Chim’s distinctive seasonal habitats, such as:
- September–October is the bird nesting season; visitors can see bird nests suspended from melaleuca branches, mother birds feeding their chicks, and young birds learning to fly…
- December–April is the season when cranes return: if lucky, visitors may see the Red-crowned Crane with their own eyes, an elegant and rare bird listed in Vietnam’s and the world’s Red Data Books.
The group returns to Cao Lanh City, checks in and rests. Overnight in Cao Lanh.
