Tour description
Dresden is one of Europe's great phoenix cities: a baroque jewel that was almost wiped out in 1945 and meticulously rebuilt stone by stone to become the 'Florence of the Elbe' once again. On this walking tour, a local guide will tell the moving story of the city's golden age under the rule of the Saxon kings, its wartime destruction, and its extraordinary revival.
You will stand before the reconstructed Frauenkirche, admire the magnificent Zwinger Palace and the Fürstenzug porcelain mural, and stroll along the riverbank once known as the 'balcony of Europe'. Elegant, moving, and beautifully restored, Dresden is a city worth taking the time to understand.
