As the capital of Azerbaijan, the city grew wealthy from oil and blends Persian, Ottoman, and Russian influences with modernity. On this walking tour, a local guide will introduce you to the city’s history and charm.
You will wander through the alleyways of the walled Old Town, stand before the mysterious Maiden Tower, and admire the palace of the Shirvanshahs. Along the way, you will hear about the Silk Road, the oil boom, and modern Azerbaijan. With its historic beauty and cosmopolitan character, Baku is a city well worth exploring on foot.

Stop 2 – Walled City (Icherisheher): The medieval heart of Baku.
Stop 3 – Palace of the Shirvanshahs: The majestic medieval royal palace (visited from the courtyard).
Stop 4 – Ancient Caravanserais: The Silk Road inns of the walled city.
Stop 5 – Ancient Alleys & Mosques: The atmospheric, historic streets of the Old City.
Stop 6 – Fountains Square: The vibrant heart of the modern city.
Stop 7 – Caspian Boulevard Viewpoint: We conclude our journey along the waterfront, beneath the Flame Towers.
