Tour description
Malacca was once Southeast Asia’s largest trading port, where Malay, Chinese, Indian, Portuguese, Dutch, and British cultures converged, leaving a heritage that remains present throughout the UNESCO-recognized old town. On this walking tour, a local guide will lead you through a city where cultures have blended for six centuries.
You will stop at the famous red Dutch Square, stroll past antique shops and temples along Jonker Street, and hear stories about Muslim sultans, spice merchants, and colonial powers that once competed for this strategic trading port. Along the way, you will discover the unique Peranakan culture shaped by centuries of cultural exchange. Colorful and steeped in history, Malacca is a wonderful city to explore on foot.
