Tour description
Step into a thousand years of history on this free walking tour of Islamic Cairo. Along with a local guide, you will explore the legendary Khan el-Khalili bazaar, a labyrinth of stalls selling spices, lanterns, gold, and perfumes, then stroll along medieval Al-Muizz Street, lined with mosques, madrasas, and merchant houses. Visit the historic Al-Azhar area, pass by the ancient Bab Zuweila gate, and hear tales of sultans, caravans, and the golden age of the Arab world. Get local tips on koshari, mint tea, and atmospheric historic cafes. Free to join — at the end of the tour, simply tip your guide what you feel it was worth. Note: mosques may require modest dress; the Giza Pyramids are a separate day trip.
