Tour description
Lima, the “City of Kings,” was once the jewel of the Spanish Empire in South America and remains one of the continent’s great historic capitals. Its old town is a UNESCO-recognized treasure, filled with colonial palaces, intricately carved wooden balconies, and Baroque churches, while its cuisine has made it the gastronomic capital of Latin America. On this walking tour, a local guide will combine both experiences.
You’ll stand in the expansive Plaza Mayor, admire the cathedral and presidential palace, and then stroll through streets lined with elaborately decorated Moorish-style balconies. Along the way, you’ll hear stories of viceroys, saints, and revolutionaries, as well as learn why Peruvian cuisine has conquered the world. Rich in history and enticing in its culinary offerings, Lima is a wonderful city to explore on foot.
