Carcassonne is Europe’s largest and most spectacular medieval walled city, a UNESCO World Heritage fortress surrounded by double ramparts and towers rising above the southern French countryside. Strolling through its streets feels like stepping back into the Middle Ages. On this walking tour, a local guide will introduce you to the history of the city.
You will pass through the grand gates, wander the medieval streets of La Cité, and walk along the imposing double walls. Along the way, you will hear about the Cathars, the sieges, and the famous restoration. Spectacular and steeped in history, Carcassonne is a wonderful city to explore on foot.

Stop 4 – Basilica of Saints Nazaire and Celse: The Gothic church of La Cité.
Stop 5 – Double Ramparts: The majestic inner and outer walls.
Stop 6 – Area Between the Walls: The open ground between the lines of ramparts.
Stop 7 – Rampart Viewpoint: We end the tour with views overlooking the walls and the countryside.
