Tour description
Kratie is a peaceful riverside town on the Mekong in northeastern Cambodia, famous for being one of the few places in the world where endangered Irrawaddy freshwater dolphins still live—there are only just over 100 individuals left in the Mekong River.
In the morning, you will travel to Kampi Pool, about 15 km from town, and board a small boat rowed by local residents. The engine will be switched off so you can observe the dolphins surfacing to breathe from a safe distance. Next, visit Sambor and its 100-column pagoda (Wat Sorsor Moi Roy), associated with the legend of a princess and serving as a pilgrimage center for the region.
In the afternoon, take a ferry to Koh Trong Island in the middle of the river, cycle past pomelo orchards, stilt houses, and a floating Vietnamese village, then end the day on Phnom Sambok Pagoda Hill, watching the sunset over the Mekong River.

Other notes
Dress code: when visiting temples, pagodas, and the Royal Palace, guests are requested to wear clothing that covers the shoulders and trousers/skirts below the knees; sports shoes are recommended because some sections have steep stone steps.
The tour is normally led by an English-speaking local guide; Vietnamese-, French-, Chinese-, Japanese-, and Korean-speaking guides can be requested (please advise when booking, subject to guide availability).
The price applies per guest for private tours with groups of 2 or more guests. Larger groups receive better rates; please contact us.
Visas: international visitors need a Cambodian visa (apply for an e-visa online before the trip or obtain a visa at the border checkpoint/airport); ASEAN citizens are visa-exempt. Passports must be valid for at least 6 months.
Dolphins are wild animals, so sightings cannot be guaranteed every time, but the probability is very high, especially during the dry season (approximately December–May).
