Tour description
Nha Trang is often known as an island-and-beach destination, and nearly every tour takes visitors out of the city by boat. Yet on the mainland, the city has an astonishingly rich history—from a thousand years of Cham religious traditions to medicine during the French colonial period.
We begin at Po Nagar, a complex of Cham temple towers on a hill beside the Cai River, built between the 8th and 13th centuries and still a sacred place of worship for the goddess Yang Ino Po Nagar, revered by both the Cham and Vietnamese people. Continuing the journey, the group will visit Long Son Pagoda, with its large white Buddha statue overlooking the city, and Stone Church, built by the French in the 1930s on a rocky outcrop.
The second half of the tour focuses on science. The Alexandre Yersin Museum, located inside the Pasteur Institute he founded, tells the story of the French-Swiss physician who discovered the plague bacillus, explored the Central Highlands, and chose Nha Trang as his home. We conclude the trip at the Institute of Oceanography in Cau Da, home to an extensive system of aquariums and specimen collections—including a whale skeleton—depicting marine life in the East Sea.
Since July 2025, Khanh Hoa has merged with Ninh Thuan, and Nha Trang comprises four wards.

Po Nagar Towers is a sacred place of worship: clothing must cover the shoulders and knees (robes can be borrowed at the entrance). The site is very crowded during festivals in the third lunar month.
At Long Son Pagoda, please do not listen to people claiming to be “guides” or asking for donations outside the official donation boxes—your guide will handle this.
The church is closed to visitors during Mass.
From September to December, Khanh Hoa experiences the stormy rainy season; most of the tour itinerary takes place indoors, but it may be rearranged if a storm warning is issued.
