Tour description
Ninh Hoa is a town an hour north of Nha Trang that gave the region its most exported dish: nem nướng, seasoned minced pork grilled on skewers and rolled at the table in rice paper with a crispy fried roll, lettuce, green banana, cucumber, and fresh herbs, dipped into a warm, thick pork-and-peanut sauce. Rolling it properly takes practice, and your guide will roll the first few.
That is the starting point for this tour. Next are bánh căn, miniature rice-batter cakes cooked in terracotta molds, from Tô Hiến Thành street carts that only fire up in the afternoon, and bò nướng lá lốt—beef wrapped in wild betel leaves and grilled—from corner stalls that have occupied the same intersections for years.
The centerpiece is bò nướng, table-grilled beef at a restaurant that has been doing this since the 1970s, where meat arrives marinated and you cook it over coals alongside a platter of rice paper and herbs.
We finish with ốc—sea snails, clams, and scallops with lemongrass, chili, tamarind, and coconut—at an ốc stall, the kind of place Vietnamese actually go for an evening out.
Small group, maximum 10 guests.
