Tour description
Perched at 2,800 metres in the Andes, Quito boasts the largest and best-preserved historic centre in the Americas, a UNESCO World Heritage site of dazzling churches, cobbled plazas and colonial mansions. On this walking tour a local guide leads you through streets where indigenous and Spanish worlds met and merged over five centuries.
You will stand in the grand Plaza Grande, admire golden baroque churches, and hear about the Inca, the conquistadors and Ecuador's fight for independence. With the Andes rising all around and the equator running just outside the city, Quito is one of the most spectacular capitals in South America to explore on foot.
