Detailed itinerary
HANOI – PHAT TICH PAGODA – BUT THAP PAGODA – DAU PAGODA – DO TEMPLE (MEALS: .../LUNCH..).
06:00 The vehicle and tour guide pick you up at the meeting point and depart. On the way, the guide introduces the landmarks along the route and organizes engaging games for the group.
07:30 You visit and attend ceremonies at Phat Tich Pagoda – located on Lan Kha Mountain in Phat Tich Commune, Tien Du District, Bac Ninh Province. The pagoda was built in the 7th century. During the Ly Dynasty, King Ly Thanh Tong had a precious stupa erected and a golden statue of himself cast.
The highlight of Phat Tich Pagoda is the blue stone statue of Amitabha Buddha seated on a lotus pedestal, measuring 1.87 m in height—a remarkable sculptural masterpiece of Vietnamese fine arts.
09:30 Your next stop is Dau Pagoda – considered the earliest founded pagoda in Vietnam with nearly 2,000 years of history. According to historical records, construction of the pagoda began in 187 and was completed in 226, serving as the first Buddhist center of the Vietnamese people. Although the original physical remnants no longer exist, it has been rebuilt. The pagoda has long been the foremost scenic landmark of the ancient Kinh Bac region.
The most distinctive architectural feature of Dau Pagoda is the Hoa Phong Tower, located in the courtyard behind the front hall. Built of well-fired bricks, the tower originally had 9 stories, but only the bottom three stories remain today. The front of the second story features a stone tablet engraved with the words "Hoa Phong Tower". The tower has a square layout, with each side of the first story measuring nearly 7 m wide. Each story has four arched openings on all four sides. In front of the tower, to the right, is a square stele erected in 1738.
11:30 You board the bus to head to a restaurant for lunch, savoring the specialties of the Kinh Bac region.
13:00 The vehicle takes you to visit and worship at But Thap Pagoda. Visiting the pagoda offers an enriching cultural and spiritual experience. The pagoda houses many precious relics and numerous beautiful stupas, large and small, which hold the sarira (relics) of ancient Zen masters. The Bao Nghiem Tower, crowned with a wine-gourd motif, has 5 stories and 8 sides, stands 13 m tall, and holds the relics of Zen Master Chuyet Chuyet. The 5-story, 10-meter-tall Ton Duc Tower holds the relics of Zen Master Minh Hanh, the pagoda's second patriarch.
15:00 You visit Do Temple – dedicated to the 8 kings of the Ly Dynasty, and Dinh Bang Communal House – built between 1700 and 1736 to worship three village tutelary gods: Cao Son Dai Vuong, Thuy Ba Dai Vuong, and Bach Le Dai Vuong. Do Temple was built by King Ly Thai Tong in 1030 and underwent multiple restorations in later centuries. In 1952, the temple was destroyed by French forces and was reconstructed in 1989. Today, visitors' first impression of Do Temple is the poetic landscape of the half-moon lake, home to the water pavilion – historically a venue for water puppet performances.
16:30 You board the vehicle to return to Hanoi.
17:30 The bus arrives in Hanoi, concluding the tour. The tour guide bids farewell to the group and looks forward to seeing you on future journeys!
