Tour description
Bukhara is the best-preserved medieval city in Central Asia, a sacred city on the Silk Road that preserves more than two thousand years of history in a compact old quarter filled with mosques, Islamic schools, and domed bazaars. Unlike other cities along the Silk Road, much of Bukhara has never had to be rebuilt. On this walking tour, a local guide will lead you through this living chapter of history.
You will meet at the tranquil Lyabi-Hauz pond, admire the magnificent Kalyan Minaret, which even Genghis Khan spared from destruction, and stroll through the ancient trading domes where artisans still work busily. Along the way, you will hear stories about Sufi saints, emirs, and Silk Road merchants. Steeped in history and full of charm, Bukhara is a wonderful city to explore on foot.
