23:30 Arrive in Ha Giang City, check in, and rest.
HA GIANG CITY – KM 0 MILESTONE – QUAN BA TWIN MOUNTAINS – THAM MA PASS – CHIN KHOANH PASS – SUNG LA (PAO'S HOUSE) – VUONG FAMILY PALACE – LUNG CU FLAG TOWER – DONG VAN OLD QUARTER (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
06:00 You have breakfast at the restaurant with traditional sour pho (phở chua). While sour pho can be found in many places, Ha Giang's version has many unique characteristics. After breakfast, you check out and board the vehicle to head to Dong Van Karst Plateau, situated at an altitude of 1,000 – 1,600 m above sea level, featuring towering limestone ranges, deep abysses, and shark-tooth- and pyramid-shaped mountains.
07:00 You board the vehicle to head to the first check-in point of the itinerary: Km 0 Milestone right in Ha Giang City, which marks the starting point of the legendary Happiness Road.
07:30 You travel to Quan Ba: About 30 km from Km 0 Milestone to Bac Xum Pass, you stop here to admire the sea of clouds (clouds are usually present in the early morning).
Continuing another 20 km brings you to Quan Ba Heaven Gate: an observation point overlooking the "Quan Ba Twin Mountains". Standing here, you can gaze at the poetic Tam Son town, pleasantly cool all year round and often compared to the "Da Lat" of Ha Giang. In particular, you can admire firsthand the rounded, alluring Quan Ba Twin Mountains, resembling the shapely breasts of a fairy deep in slumber—a fascinating geological formation in Ha Giang.
Leaving Quan Ba Twin Mountains, it is about 60 km to Yen Minh town. Continuing for about 30 km, the next stop is Tham Ma Pass. You stop here to admire a stretch of mountain pass winding like a soft silk ribbon across the mountainside. The dangerous hairpin turns seamlessly become the soft knots of that silk ribbon.
Next are Chin Khoanh (Nine-Turn) Pass and Pao's House located in Lung Cam village. Looking down from the top of the Nine-Turn Pass over Pho Cao valley, and heading up the pass with its buckwheat flower fields, this promises to be a stunning spot in your album conquering Ha Giang.
Noon: You have lunch at a restaurant.
After lunch, you visit the Vuong Family Palace (Palace of the H'mong King, the opium kingpin of Indochina at that time) (over 10 km from Pao's house). This is the most unique architectural structure in Ha Giang and a very special historical destination in Ha Giang.
You travel to the northernmost point (Lung Cu Flag Tower) at an altitude of about 1,470 m above sea level, located in Lung Cu commune, Dong Van district, Ha Giang province, where the northernmost observation deck of Vietnam is situated.
Afterwards, you travel 25 km along mountain passes (about a 1-hour drive) to Dong Van town to check in at the hotel and relax.
19:00 You have dinner at the hotel restaurant. Enjoy free time to explore the town at night with specialties such as: au tau porridge, Trang Kim pho, five-color sticky rice, egg steamed rice rolls dipped in bone broth, thang co, men men, and corn wine—must-try dishes in Ha Giang…
