Arequipa is one of Peru's most beautiful cities, built almost entirely from white sillar volcanic stone that gives it the name 'The White City' and set beneath three towering volcanoes. The UNESCO-listed colonial center is a treasure trove of magnificent churches and mansions. On this walking tour, a local guide reveals the city's beauty and history.
You'll stand in the grand Plaza de Armas, admire the massive cathedral and baroque churches, and visit the famous Santa Catalina Monastery. Along the way, hear about the colonial era, the volcanoes, and Arequipeño culture. Brilliant and historic, Arequipa is a wonderful city to explore on foot.

Stop 2 – Arequipa Cathedral: The grand cathedral lining the square.
Stop 3 – Church of La Compañía: Intricately carved baroque church (exterior visit).
Stop 4 – White-stone Alleyways: Colonial streets built of sillar stone.
Stop 5 – Santa Catalina Monastery: The famous walled convent (from the entrance).
Stop 6 – San Lázaro Neighborhood: The city's oldest neighborhood.
Stop 7 – Volcano Viewpoint: We finish our journey with views of the three volcanoes.
