Tour description
Hanoi was built along the Red River, but very few visitors have ever set foot on the river. It is wide, fast-flowing, and heavily silted, and until recently there was no regular tourist boat service. Today, a licensed operator runs trips from Chuong Duong Do Pier, the city's only pier currently permitted to receive tourist boats.
On this weekend trip, we board the boat at Chuong Duong and travel downstream, viewing Long Bien Bridge and the city from a distance, passing cultivated land and riverside villages. The boat docks at Bat Trang, a pottery village that has made ceramics for Hanoi since the 15th century. We visit the village's family workshops and pottery museum, try shaping a pot on a pottery wheel, then have lunch in the village before returning to the city by car.

Detailed itinerary
Stop 1 - Chuong Duong Do Wharf (08:00): Board a licensed tour boat.
Stop 2 - Down the Red River (around 08:15): Long Bien Bridge, both riverbanks, and stories about the river and its dyke system.
Stop 3 - Bat Trang (around 09:45): The village alleys, family kilns, and pottery workshops.
Stop 4 - Pottery Making (around 10:45): Try making pottery on a potter's wheel and decorate your own product.
Stop 5 - Lunch (around 12:00): In the village.
End (13:30): Return by car to the Old Quarter.

Free cancellation up to 24 hours before the tour start time for a full refund. Cancellations made within 24 hours of the tour are non-refundable. If the boat service is suspended due to storms, flooding, high water levels, or official directives, we will reschedule the tour or provide a full refund.
Other notes
Life jackets are provided on all boats and must be worn when traveling on small, uncovered boats. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

This tour takes place on weekends and will be confirmed within 48 hours of booking, once the boat trip has been confirmed; if the boat trip is canceled, you will be offered a similar tour by car or a full refund.

June through September is the high-water and rainy season, when boat trips may be temporarily suspended.
