Detailed itinerary
In the afternoon, you will depart from the office to begin the tour.
- Visit Reunification Palace: In 1883, Norodom Palace (Governor’s Palace) was the workplace and residence of many generations of French governors-general in Indochina. In 1954, General Paul Ely held a ceremony to hand over Norodom Palace to Mr. Ngo Dinh Diem. After that, President Diem renamed Norodom Palace Independence Palace. Independence Palace (Reunification Palace), rebuilt in 1962, was often called the "Dragon’s Head Palace"...
- Visit Notre-Dame Cathedral: Immediately after occupying Saigon, the French built a church as a place of worship for Catholic followers in the expeditionary force. Because the first church was too small, in 1863 the French built a wooden cathedral, which was completed after 2 years and called Saigon Church (1863). In 1877, Saigon Church was rebuilt and was initially named the State Cathedral. In 1959, it was renamed Notre-Dame Cathedral, and the name Notre-Dame Cathedral has been used to this day. Notre-Dame Cathedral is not only the largest and oldest Catholic church in Vietnam but also a unique, outstanding, and representative architectural work of Saigon, a land with more than 300 years of development and construction.
- Visit Saigon Central Post Office, one of the typical architectural works in Ho Chi Minh City, built by the French in an eclectic style between 1886 and 1891. This is an architectural work featuring a European style combined with Asian decorative elements. Saigon Central Post Office is located next to Notre-Dame Cathedral and near the Diamond Plaza shopping center, a lively and beautiful architectural landmark at the heart of Saigon today.
At 4:00 PM, you will end the half-day Saigon tour at the office. We bid you farewell and hope to see you again.
