Detailed itinerary
MUSEUM - ISLAND LORD'S PALACE - PHU HAI PRISON - TIGER CAGES - VISITING VO THI SAU'S GRAVE
Morning: To begin your journey to explore Con Dao, please arrive at the domestic departure terminal and complete flight check-in procedures according to your registered time. To have more time to experience the island, we recommend booking a flight that arrives in Con Dao before 11:00 AM.
Upon arriving at Con Son – Con Dao Airport, a vehicle will transfer the group to Con Son town. Along the way, you will listen to guided narrations about points of interest such as Co Ong village, the Lime Kiln, Hang Keo Cemetery, etc. Arrive in town to have lunch, check in to your room, and rest.
Afternoon: The group visits the following historical sites:
- Con Dao Museum: A place preserving valuable artifacts and documents that recount the heroic struggle of the Vietnamese nation at Con Dao Prison. Here, visitors will learn about the harsh lives of revolutionary soldiers, the brutal crimes of the French colonialists and American imperialists, and gain a deeper understanding of the unyielding spirit of the Vietnamese people.
- Island Lord's Palace: One of the ancient architectural landmarks imbued with Con Dao's historical imprint. It was once the residence and workplace of the island lords, who held supreme power on this island. Today, the palace has been restored into a museum displaying many valuable artifacts and documents on the lives of the island lords and the history of Con Dao.
- Phu Hai Prison: The oldest and most historic prison camp built by the French colonialists. This place is famous for its rice mill chamber, solitary confinement area, and the Con Lon stone-breaking site.
- French-style Tiger Cages: Also known as Phu Tho Camp, the focal point of Con Dao Prison. Explore the fortified Tiger Cage system built concealed among the buildings like a maze. View the tiger cages and hear descriptions of the forms of physical torture inflicted on prisoners.
Return to the hotel to rest and have dinner. Enjoy free time to stroll along Con Dao beach at night.
19:00: The car and tour guide pick up the group at the meeting point to visit Hang Duong Cemetery – where nearly 2,000 graves are located. Visit the memorial monument, the martyrs' graves, and pay respects at the grave of Vo Thi Sau, the first female death row inmate at Con Dao.
- Note: Please wear modest attire (long pants, collared shirt) when visiting Hang Duong Cemetery.
End of Day 1. Overnight stay in Con Dao.
