Tour description
Hanoi is beautiful in every season in its own unique way, but everyone must admit that in autumn, the capital puts on its most dazzling attire. Leaving behind the sweltering heat of summer, yet not reaching the bitter cold of winter, autumn is the most wonderful romantic transition. The best time to travel to Hanoi in autumn is from September to October each year. At this time, Hanoi enters the season of falling leaves, trees turn yellow, life seems to slow down, becoming more romantic and gentle. Life in the early days of autumn gives Hanoi a strangely dreamy beauty.
Autumn has a magical power that makes people gentler, more composed, and slows down the pace of life. That is why Hanoi’s autumn has a very distinctive drifting charm that cannot be found anywhere else: autumn lingering leisurely in front of the house, autumn dreamily resting on rows of century-old trees, as in the verses of Nguyễn Bính:
“Suddenly I noticed the scent of guava
Wafting into the cool breeze
Mist lingering through the alley
It seems autumn has arrived”
Hanoi already possesses an ancient beauty that sets it apart from other cities. And when autumn comes, this place becomes even more simple and gentle, calming people’s hearts and naturally making our souls feel at ease.
Highlights of the tour that you cannot miss:
- Explore the Ho Chi Minh President Relic Site
- Admire the unique architecture of the One Pillar Pagoda – an ancient and sacred pagoda
- Learn about the history of Tran Quoc Pagoda – located on the eastern island of West Lake
- Visit Quan Thanh Temple – a temple dating back to the time of Lý Thái Tổ, dedicated to Huyền Thiên Trấn Vũ
- The Temple of Literature – Imperial Academy, considered the first university
- Take photos at Hoan Kiem Lake and Ngoc Son Temple.

Detailed itinerary
Morning: Hanoi visit to Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum
08:00 - 08:30 The vehicle and tour guide pick you up at your hotel in the Old Quarter and the Hanoi Opera House area to begin your tour of Hanoi, the capital. In the morning,
You will visit:
- Tran Quoc Pagoda, located on an island to the east of West Lake (Tay Ho District). The pagoda has a history of nearly 1,500 years and is considered the oldest in Thang Long – Hanoi. Its architecture harmoniously combines solemnity and antiquity with an elegant landscape amid the tranquility of a vast lake. It was the Buddhist center of the Thang Long capital during the Ly and Tran dynasties.
- Ho Chi Minh Complex, a complex including:
- President Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum – the final resting place of the father of the nation.
Note: on Mondays and Fridays, the Mausoleum is closed, so visitors can only view it from the outside.
- Ho Chi Minh’s House, where Uncle Ho lived and worked from 1958 to 1969.
- One Pillar Pagoda, a small pagoda structure built on a single pillar in the middle of a square pond and also a symbol of Hanoi.
- Ho Chi Minh Museum, one of the largest museums in Vietnam. The museum mainly focuses on displaying artifacts and documents about the life and personality of Ho Chi Minh.
12:30 Stop to rest and have lunch at a restaurant in the Old Quarter area.
Afternoon: Highlights
13:30 Visit:
- Imperial Citadel of Thang Long, a complex of relics associated with the history of the Thang Long – Dong Kinh capital and Hanoi, beginning from the pre-Thang Long period (An Nam Protectorate in the 7th century), through the Dinh – Early Le dynasties, flourishing under the Ly, Tran, and Le dynasties, and becoming Hanoi Citadel under the Nguyen dynasty. This is a massive architectural work built by royal dynasties over many historical periods and has become one of the most important relics in Vietnam’s system of historical sites.
- Temple of Literature – Imperial Academy, considered the first university in Vietnam. It is an ancient architectural work, built on a fairly large scale from October 1073 and still standing today. The Temple of Literature was built to worship Confucius, the founder of Confucianism, and Chu Van An – rector of the Imperial Academy – representing the noble moral philosophy of Vietnamese education.
- Legendary Hoan Kiem Lake and Ngoc Son Temple, dedicated to Van Xuong and Tran Hung Dao – a renowned general in Vietnamese and world history. We can learn about Vietnamese and French architecture around the lake.
At the end of the afternoon, you may take a cyclo ride (at your own expense) around the Old Quarter before returning to the hotel, or register to watch a water puppet performance...
