Detailed itinerary
08:00 - 08:30 The vehicle picks you up at hotels in the central Old Quarter and the Hanoi Opera House to start the Hanoi City Tour. In the morning, you will visit:
Tran Quoc Pagoda - located on an island east of West Lake (Tay Ho District). With a history of nearly 1,500 years, it is considered the oldest pagoda in Thang Long - Hanoi. The pagoda's architecture harmoniously combines solemn, ancient features with an elegant landscape set against the tranquil backdrop of an expansive lake. It was the Buddhist center of the Thang Long imperial citadel during the Ly and Tran dynasties.
Visit the President Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum Complex, which includes:
-
Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum - the final resting place of the beloved father of the nation.
Note: On Mondays and Fridays, the Mausoleum is closed, so visitors can only view it from the outside.
-
Uncle Ho's Stilt House, where Uncle Ho lived and worked from 1958 to 1969.
-
One Pillar Pagoda, a small pagoda structure built on a single pillar set in the middle of a square pond, also an iconic symbol of Hanoi.
-
Ho Chi Minh Museum, one of the largest museums in Vietnam. The museum mainly focuses on displaying artifacts and documents about the life and persona of Ho Chi Minh.
11:00 The group will visit the Museum of Ethnology – a place preserving and displaying many artifacts and antiquities related to the costumes, culture, history, and customs of the 54 ethnic groups. This is a meaningful stop for ethnological knowledge.
Note: The group will visit the Vietnamese Women's Museum instead of the Museum of Ethnology, which is closed on Mondays.
Noon: The guide takes you to have lunch at a restaurant.
Afternoon: In the afternoon, the tour guide continues taking you to visit:
- The Temple of Literature - Imperial Academy, regarded as the first university in Vietnam. This is an ancient architectural complex, built on a fairly large scale starting from October 1073 and preserved to this day. The Temple of Literature was built to worship Confucius, the founder of Confucianism, and Chu Van An - the rector of the Imperial Academy - representing the high moral philosophy of Vietnamese education.
- The group visits Hoa Lo Prison – built by the French in 1886, famous as a place where many prominent Vietnamese revolutionaries were held during the Indochina War and American pilots during the Vietnam War.
16:00 - 16:30 End of the Hanoi City Tour program, the vehicle takes you back to your hotel in the Old Quarter.
