Tour description

Trace the story of modern Vietnam on this free walking tour around Hanoi's historic Ba Dinh district, the political heart of the nation. With a local guide you'll take in the solemn Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, the Presidential Palace grounds and Ho Chi Minh's simple stilt house, the delicate One Pillar Pagoda and the thousand-year-old Temple of Literature — Vietnam's first university. Your guide brings to life the events, figures and ideas that shaped the country's fight for independence and its path to today. A moving, informative walk for anyone who wants to understand Vietnam beyond its street food and scenery. The tour is free to join — simply tip your guide whatever you feel it was worth at the end.

Meeting point:

Ba Dinh Square, in front of the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum
