Detailed itinerary
07:00 Our vehicle and tour guide will pick you up at the meeting point and depart along the Ho Chi Minh Trail to Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park.
08:30 Arrive at Paradise Cave. You will board an electric transfer cart and hike up the mountain slope to reach the cave entrance. Take a rest, receive the necessary equipment, and listen to the tour briefing and safety instructions.
Explore the first 1,000m along the wooden walkway: This is the standard sightseeing route for tourists. Here, you will be amazed by the myriad of stalactites and stalagmites in diverse shapes: the Celestial Palace, Thien Ha Waterfall, Gathering of Fairies, Lotus Tower, Guanyin Bodhisattva, the Three Immortals (Phuc - Loc - Tho), Champa Tower, Central Highlands Communal House... feeling as though you have stepped into an "Underground Celestial Palace."
Explore the next 6,000m: This is a special route designed for adventurous travelers who love exploration. From the end of the wooden walkway, you will continue with your guide. This section presents many challenges, with rugged, dark paths; however, what you witness firsthand inside the cave will be truly magnificent!
For roughly the first 500m, the cave is tube-shaped, reaching over 80m at its highest point and about 120m at its widest. Occasionally, you will encounter towering stalactites sparkling like diamonds; columns of pure white resembling marble create an alluring beauty unique to Paradise Cave. The deeper you venture, the more diverse and unique the formations become, with stalagmites and stalactites in a rich array of colors and shapes, as if sculpted by the hands of nature for the mortal world. Miraculously, in the darkness of Paradise Cave, life thrives with various creatures such as fish, bats, spiders, and crickets... Hundreds of bats cling to the cave ceiling within the first 3.5 km. As predicted by British Royal Cave explorers, there must be an opening connecting to the outside world nearby—and indeed, about 200m from the bat cave lies the confluence of two dry streams, where a cool, refreshing breeze drifts up. This makes for a wonderful resting spot, with grand, towering stalactites shimmering with a beautiful metallic glint. Stopping at the 4,000m mark, you can find scenic spots to take photos and capture memorable moments.
Afterward, board a kayak to cross the stream—the most exciting and captivating part of the entire journey. The cave ceiling is as smooth as if shaped by human hands, sloping lower toward the stream bank, requiring visitors to bend down low to reach the boat landing. During the dry season, crossing the stream is straightforward, though during the rainy flood season, it turns into a powerful torrent. Navigating along the 100-meter stretch of the stream, there are spots where you must lie completely flat against the boat to avoid touching the cave ceiling.
Continue the journey along precarious, rugged trails following the dry streambed. In some spots, the path is only wide enough for one person to squeeze through, flanked by tightly clustered, cylindrical stalactites resembling a labyrinth; without a guide or trail markers, one could easily lose their way.
After more than an hour, we will reach what is considered the highlight of the trip: the "Skylight" (Gieng Troi). From afar, the babbling stream sounds like soothing, melodious music. Just about 50 meters away from your destination, a shaft of light pierces from the mountaintop down to the cave floor like a celestial halo. Follow the narrow path along the cliff walls to descend to the stream and rest—a landscape found nowhere else. In the middle of the stream are smooth, polished boulders that seem carved by craftsmen, with various shapes and colors that are truly striking. Stand before the Skylight—where Paradise Cave connects to the outside world through an opening in the ceiling. In Eastern belief, this represents the harmony of heaven and earth that allows all things in the universe to flourish. Nature feels so close at hand, yet remains deeply mysterious and fascinating!
12:00 Enjoy lunch beside the underground stream, relax, take souvenir photos, and prepare your gear for the return trek along the same route.
15:00: Our vehicle will transfer you back to Dong Hoi City, concluding the 7,000m Paradise Cave exploration tour. On behalf of the company, our guide thanks you, bids you farewell, and looks forward to seeing you again on future journeys.
