Detailed itinerary
Paradise Cave – Phong Nha Cave. (lunch included)
Morning: Our vehicle and tour guide will pick you up in downtown Dong Hoi (railway station, airport, bus station, hotel, etc.).
08:00 The group departs to visit Paradise Cave. Departing from Dong Hoi, we travel northwest along the historic Ho Chi Minh Road. After covering more than 75 km, visitors will arrive at Paradise Cave, which features some of the most unique and magnificent stalactite and stalagmite formations in Asia.
10:30 After passing through the ticket checkpoint, visitors will take an electric shuttle for another 1.6 km to the foot of the mountain where the cave is located. The journey continues with a 570 m climb up the mountain to reach Paradise Cave.
Inside the cave is a shimmering, magical, and magnificent world of stalactites and colors. It truly lives up to the poetic name bestowed upon it: Paradise Cave – a royal palace beneath the earth. Gentle white LED lights dispel the darkness, allowing visitors to admire nature’s masterpieces. The stalactites come in a wide variety of shapes, allowing visitors to let their imaginations run wild. Here and there, familiar images can be seen, such as the Milky Way Waterfall, Lotus Tower, Central Highlands communal house, Cham Tower, and Guanyin Bodhisattva, as named by explorers.
Noon: Enjoy lunch and rest at a restaurant.
Afternoon: Visit Phong Nha Cave. Phong Nha Cave is one of the most prominent attractions in the Phong Nha–Ke Bang scenic complex.
To visit Phong Nha Cave, visitors must take a dragon boat upstream along the romantic Son River for approximately 30 minutes. Despite its name, “Son” River is crystal clear in summer, revealing the riverbed and reflecting the imposing, lush green limestone cliffs. Along both banks are scenes of the local people’s everyday life, simple yet poetic.
After more than half an hour by boat, the entrance to Phong Nha Cave appears on the river. The boat passes through the relatively narrow entrance, approximately 20 m wide and 10 m high, to enter the cave. Inside, the boat engine is turned off, and the only sound is the gentle paddling across the rather dark underground river.
Under the lights, the stalactite formations appear truly shimmering and magical. Stone curtains and stalactites hang down, while stalagmites rise up in a variety of sparkling hues like diamonds, forming countless strange yet familiar shapes that invite visitors to imagine freely. Deep inside the cave, visitors can capture beautiful photos beside the stunning underground sandy beaches, rocky banks, and lakes. Visitors can also discover ancient Cham inscriptions or hear stories about the treasure of King Ham Nghi hidden here.
Visitors can stroll with their loved ones and friends along the long, narrow corridors covered with stalactites to explore Bi Ky Cave, Fairy Cave, and the Royal Court. The cave’s atmosphere is cool and fresh. As they admire the unique masterpieces crafted by nature, visitors cannot help but marvel at the beauty of this place. These moments will surely remain in visitors’ hearts as beautiful, unforgettable memories of their time in Quang Binh, a land of abundant sunshine and wind.
16:30 The group boards the vehicle and departs for Dong Hoi, checks in at the hotel, and rests.
Evening: Dinner is at your own expense (explore the local cuisine), followed by free time to explore and admire the city at night.
