Grupo reducido, máximo 10 participantes, completamente a pie.

We meet at the arch at the river end of Jalan Hang Jebat, known as Jonker Street. Your guide will have a small sign with your name.
Itinerario detallado
Stop 1 - Chicken rice balls, Jalan Hang Jebat: Poached Hainanese chicken with the rice compressed into warm balls - a Melaka habit that started as a way for market traders to eat with their hands.
Stop 2 - Gula melaka cendol: Shaved ice with coconut milk and the smoky palm sugar the state is named after, from a Jonker Street shophouse.
Stop 3 - Nyonya laksa: Coconut-rich Peranakan laksa with prawns, cockles and laksa leaf - a different dish entirely from Penang's sour assam laksa, and your guide will explain the split.
Stop 4 - Harmony Street walk: A short guided walk along Jalan Tokong past a Chinese temple, a mosque and a Hindu temple within a hundred metres, with your guide on how the port's communities lived side by side.
Stop 5 - Nyonya kuih: Steamed and layered Peranakan cakes - kuih lapis, ondeh ondeh, pulut tai tai - from a family shop.
Stop 6 - Jonker Walk night market: The street closes to traffic and the stalls set up. Popiah, grilled skewers, quail eggs and the famous durian puffs.
Stop 7 - Satay celup: The Melaka invention - skewers of meat, seafood and vegetables dipped into a communal pot of bubbling peanut and chilli sauce at your table.

Otras notas
Runs Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 15:30. The Jonker Walk night market operates only on those three nights, and most daytime shophouses close between 16:00 and 17:00, so a midweek evening tour would have very little open. If you can only come midweek, tell us - we run a shorter daytime version.
Saturday is severely crowded. Friday is the better night for a relaxed pace.
Satay celup and pork satay are not halal. For Muslim guests we substitute halal Nyonya and Malay stops - tell us when you book.
Dietary needs: tell us at least 48 hours ahead. Vegetarian works via kuih, cendol, popiah and vegetable satay celup.
Chicken rice ball shops sell out by mid-afternoon, which is why we start at 15:30 rather than later.
Cash only at the night market. Entirely on foot, about 1.5 km on flat streets.
