Descrizione del tour
Charoen Krung is Bangkok's oldest paved road, and the stretch around Bang Rak is where the city's Chinese, Muslim and Portuguese communities all ended up cooking next to each other. Almost nobody does a food tour here, which is exactly why we do.
We begin before eight, when a Bib Gourmand shop in a side soi off Charoen Krung is still ladling khao kha moo — pork knuckle stewed for hours in five-spice and soy until it collapses, served over rice with pickled mustard greens and a boiled egg. A few minutes away, a roast-duck house that opened in 1909 is hanging its birds in the window. Your guide walks you between them through a neighbourhood of old shophouses, a Muslim quarter, and one of the oldest Catholic churches in Thailand.
Then we take the public ferry across the Chao Phraya. Ten minutes on the water with the temples and the barges, and you land in Thonburi at Wang Lang, a dense market lane beside Siriraj Hospital that feeds tens of thousands of people a day and is at its absolute peak between eight and nine in the morning. Here the food is cheaper, faster and more southern: curry over rice chosen from twenty trays, mango with sticky rice, banana-leaf grilled desserts, and Thai iced tea poured over crushed ice.
Your guide covers the river's role in how Bangkok eats, what the ferry system costs and how to use it on your own, and which Thonburi markets are worth a return trip.
Small group, maximum 10 guests. One public ferry crossing, included.

Politica di cancellazione
Free cancellation up to 24 hours before the tour start time for a full refund. Cancellations within 24 hours are non-refundable. If the river ferries are suspended for weather or water levels, we run an all-Charoen-Krung version of the route and refund the difference. Tours otherwise run rain or shine.
Altre note
Runs Monday to Saturday at 07:30. We do not run on Sundays, when the pork knuckle shop at stop 1 is closed.
The early start matters twice over: stop 1 sells out in the morning, and Wang Lang peaks between 08:00 and 09:00 and fades by lunchtime.
The ferry is a public commuter boat with open sides and no seat reservations. It is easy to board but there is a small step and no ramp, so tell us in advance if anyone in your group has mobility difficulties and we will use the bridge and a taxi instead at no extra cost.
Dietary needs: tell us at least 48 hours ahead. The first two stops are pork and duck; we can substitute Thai-Muslim halal dishes on Charoen Krung, which is a genuine strength of this neighbourhood, and the Wang Lang section is easy for vegetarians.
Bangkok's street-vendor rules continue to tighten and kerbside stalls can move at short notice. We reconfirm each stop in the week of your tour.
