Tour description
Kampong Cham is a province along the Mekong River, about a 2.5-hour drive from Phnom Penh. It receives few international visitors but has many interesting attractions.
Wat Nokor Bachey is an 11th-century laterite and sandstone temple built during the reign of King Jayavarman VII. Today, a modern pagoda has been built directly inside the ancient temple complex, creating a unique blend of the past and present. Phnom Pros and Phnom Srei (Man Mountain – Woman Mountain) are associated with the legend of a mountain-building contest between men and women; the mountains feature pagodas, stupas, and troops of monkeys.
In the afternoon, cycle around Koh Paen Island in the Mekong River, passing through rural villages and tobacco fields. During the dry season (approximately December to May), local residents build a bamboo bridge over 1 km long connecting the island to the mainland; during the rainy season, the bridge is dismantled and replaced by a ferry. End the day along the Kampong Cham riverfront with views of Kizuna Bridge.
