Tour description
Kampong Chhnang means “port of pots” – a name associated with a pottery tradition that dates back hundreds of years. In Andong Russey Village, women still shape pots and vessels by hand, walking around the products instead of using a potter’s wheel, then firing them in the open air with straw and firewood – a rare ancient technique still found in Southeast Asia.
In the afternoon, take a small boat through the floating village on the Tonle Sap River, passing floating houses, fish farms, schools and a floating market, where residents live entirely on the water. This peaceful riverside setting, visited by relatively few tourists, offers an authentic glimpse into life around the Great Lake.
Along the way, the vehicle stops at sugar palm fields and roadside stalls selling palm sugar along National Road 5. The tour is ideal for photography and traditional handicraft enthusiasts.
