Tour description
Southern Laos is less crowded than the north but offers its own distinctive landscapes: the cool Bolaven Plateau with waterfalls hundreds of meters high, the ancient Khmer temple complex of Wat Phu, and Si Phan Don, where the Mekong River spreads into thousands of islands.
The program starts and ends in Pakse. On the first day, visit the Bolaven Plateau, Tad Fane and Tad Yuang waterfalls, and a coffee plantation. The second day is devoted to Wat Phu and the town of Champasak before heading south to Si Phan Don. Here, spend two nights on Don Khon Island, cycle across a French colonial railway bridge, and enjoy views of Li Phi Falls, Khone Phapheng Falls, and the sunset over the Mekong River.
Private tour with an air-conditioned vehicle, guide, and selected 3-star accommodation; an additional night on the island can be arranged.

Detailed itinerary
Morning (08:00): The guide picks you up at the airport or hotel in Pakse and departs for the Bolaven Plateau.
09:30: Admire Tad Fane Twin Waterfalls and visit a coffee plantation.
Noon: Have lunch on the plateau.
Afternoon: Swim at Tad Yuang Waterfall and visit a Katu village. Return to Pakse.
Evening: Dinner. Overnight in Pakse.

Safety: some rural areas of Laos still contain unexploded ordnance (UXO) from the war; always follow marked paths and your guide’s instructions.
Dress code: when entering temples, the Royal Palace, and historical sites, please wear clothing that covers the shoulders and trousers/skirts below the knees, and remove your shoes before entering the main sanctuary.
Currency: the kip (LAK) is the official currency; many places accept USD and Thai baht, but it is advisable to exchange some money into kip for spending at markets, small restaurants, and in rural areas.
The tour is normally led by an English-speaking local guide; Vietnamese-, French-, Chinese-, or Thai-speaking guides can be requested (please advise when booking, subject to guide availability).
