Detailed itinerary
HANOI – BA BE LAKE (LUNCH / DINNER)
06:00 – 06:30 The vehicle and tour guide will pick you up for the Ba Be Lake tour at hotels around the Old Quarter and Hanoi Opera House, then depart for Ba Be Lake via the Hanoi – Thai Nguyen – Bac Kan route. Along the way, we will stop in Thai Nguyen for a break, giving you time to have breakfast on your own.
11:00 Arrive at Ba Be Lake, located within Ba Be National Park. Have lunch, then check in and rest.
13:00 The group will walk along a small lakeside path leading to the boat pier. Sitting on a small motorboat, you can relax and admire the lake scenery while finding your favorite spots for photos. On the lake, the boat will stop at the following places:
- Fairy Pond: located in one corner of Ba Be Lake, this is a small freshwater lake situated amid a high mountain rising above the lake. Local people say that in the past, fairies often came here to play chess.
- An Ma Temple: a temple located on a small mountain in the middle of the lake. According to a folk story, during the feudal war between the Le and Mac dynasties, Mac generals were defeated and fled to Puong Cave, where they took their own lives. Moved by their loyal and heroic spirit, local people built a temple to worship the Mac family. However, fearing that the Le army would discover it, they changed its name to An Ma Temple. In the Tay language, “An Ma” means “a peaceful grave and a beautiful tomb”—the resting place of the loyal Mac mandarins.
- Widow Island is a small island located in the middle of Ba Be Lake and associated with the legend of the lake’s formation. The boat will circle the island so that you can take photos.
17:00: Return to the homestay. You will have free time to rest and explore the life of the ethnic people living along the lakeshore (the homestay provides affordable bicycle rental and kayaking services).
19:00: Have dinner, then rest.
In the evening, you are free to relax and explore.
