Tour description
Phnom Penh is located at the Chaktomuk river junction, where the Mekong, Tonle Sap, and Bassac rivers meet. The city has its own charm, with French-era boulevards, gleaming golden pagoda roofs, and a vibrant riverside atmosphere.
The tour takes you to the Royal Palace – the residence of Cambodia’s king – featuring the Throne Hall with its distinctive pointed roof, and the Silver Pagoda, whose floor is paved with more than 5,000 silver tiles and houses an emerald Buddha statue. Nearby is the National Museum, with its red terracotta architecture, displaying the world’s most valuable collection of pre-Angkorian and Angkorian Khmer sculptures.
In the afternoon, visit Wat Phnom – the hilltop temple associated with the legend of Lady Penh, who founded the city – pass Independence Monument and the statue of King Norodom Sihanouk, and stroll through the Central Market (Psar Thmei), known for its distinctive golden dome.
The tour is ideal for your first day in Phnom Penh, offering insight into Khmer history and culture.
