Tour description
Luang Prabang has more than 30 active temples and hundreds of monks and novices. For many young people from rural areas, entering a monastery to study and practice is a pathway to education. This tour gives you the opportunity to understand that life from the inside, in a gentle and respectful way.
In the morning, a monk will guide you through basic seated and walking meditation in the tranquil temple grounds, followed by a short talk on Buddhist teachings and the meaning of daily rituals. After a vegetarian lunch, you will join a 'monk chat'—a conversation with young novices who want to practice their English and share their lives, studies, and dreams.
At the end of the day, you will climb to a hilltop temple and sit quietly as drums and evening chants echo over the Mekong River at sunset. No meditation experience required.
